Requiem Canticles
The Requiem Canticles (German: Requiem Lobgesänge ) are a 15-minute composition by Igor Stravinsky for alto voice and bass - solos , choir and orchestra .
Stravinsky completed the work in 1966, when it was also premiered . The work was performed at Stravinsky's funeral.
Orchestration
- Alto, bass soloists and mixed choir
- Orchestra consisting of 3 flutes , alto flute , 2 bassoons , 4 horns , 2 trumpets , 3 trombones , 2 timpani , 2 percussionists ( xylophone , vibraphone and tubular bells ), harp , piano , celesta and strings .

The piece consists of nine short movements:
- Prelude
- Exaudi
- This Irae
- Tuba mirum
- Interlude
- Rex tremendae
- Lacrimosa
- Libera me
- Postlude
The Requiem Canticles are characteristic of Stravinsky's twelve-tone music practice .
