The Residenzstraße is a street in Munich's Old Town . It runs parallel to Theatinerstraße from Marienhof past Max-Joseph-Platz to Odeonsplatz . It is named after the Munich residence that lies next to it .
Because of her u. a. the architectural monument Residenzstraße 13 , the Palais Preysing and the Palais Toerring-Jettenbach on the corner of Maximilianstraße . From here, behind the Feldherrnhalle, the Viscardigasse (popularly "Drückebergergasse") branches off to Theatinerstraße.
history
Until 1817 the Schwabinger Tor , which was the northern boundary of the city since the first city expansion in 1327, was located on it.
The Hitler putsch collapsed in Residenzstrasse on November 9, 1923 when, after the putschists had used violence, they were stopped by the Bavarian State Police ; there were deaths on both sides.
