Reto R. Bezzola

Reto Raduolf Bezzola (born September 13, 1898 in Celerina / Schlarigna ; † January 7, 1983 in Samedan ) was a Swiss Romance and Medievalist .

Life

Bezzola, whose mother tongue was the Rhaeto-Romanic idiom Puter , received his doctorate in Zurich in 1922 with Contributo alla storia dei gallicismi italiani nei primi secoli (750–1300). Saggio storico-linguistico (Zurich 1924). He completed his habilitation there in 1929 on Spirito e forma nei canti di Giacomo Leopardi (Bologna 1930). From 1938 he was associate professor, from 1945 to 1968 full professor for French, Italian and Romansh literature at the University of Zurich . He wrote a German-Rhaeto-Romanic dictionary for the Ladin idioms, as well as an extensive history of Rhaeto-Romanic literature.
