Retrogression is a Finnish metal band from Tuusula that was formed in 2002.
history
The band was formed in 2002. In the first few years the post of drummer changed twice. In 2007 the then guitarist left the band. The line-up then consisted of the drummer Tipi, who joined in 2005, of the three founding members Lammi on bass, Pekka on electric guitar and singer Antti, who now also plays electric guitar. In 2012 the self-titled debut album was released via Inverse Records .
style
Michael Dalakos from metal-temple.com felt … and the Fiancee Was a Total Fiasco as a mixture of modern death metal and melodic hooks and refrains that can be compared to the music of Scar Symmetry or Threat Signal . Moritz Beese from metalinside.de wrote in his review of the album that there was “ prroggged Mosh Core” on it. The songs are aggressive, but would be very similar in the long run, and they would all approach the five-minute mark. The singing is monotonous and consists of shouts . Beese recommended the music to fans of The End , Twelve Tribes, and Ghost Brigade . Kev Rowland from mlwz.pl largely agreed with the label's description, which outlined the music as melancholic , melodic and aggressive Progressive Metal. The melody is particularly important in the band's songs, according to Rowland. The music is somewhat comparable to that of the early Mastodon , although similarities to Scandinavian Black Metal can be heard.
