Reussian Oberland

The areas of the state of Reuss in East Thuringia, which - apart from the large residences Gera , Weida and Greiz in the Elstertal - were in the Thuringian slate mountains and on the upper reaches of the Saale, were referred to as Reussian Oberland .

The two most important cities in the Oberland are Schleiz and Bad Lobenstein . Today the area forms the southern part of the Saale-Orla district and the district of Greiz .

The Triptis – Marxgrün line is also known as the Oberlandbahn .
