Desirée Bjerke

Desirée Bjerke Andersen (born March 22, 1971 in Fredrikstad ) is a Norwegian skeleton pilot .

Career

Desiree Bjerke starts for the Lillehammer Skeleton Club . It has been active on an international level since 1997. Her first good result was a seventh place in a skeleton World Cup race in Winterberg in December 1997. Various good results followed, but she never got beyond sixth place (January 2004 in Lillehammer ). The only world championship she took part in was in Calgary in 2005 , Bjerke finished 17th. She started four times at the European Skeleton Championships : 2003 in St. Moritz (9th), 2004 in Altenberg (8th), 2005 in Altenberg ( 16.) and 2007 in Königssee (12.). In November 2001 Bjerke won a European Cup race in Winterberg.

Career highlight was Bjerkes participation in the 2006 Olympic Games of Turin . There she took ninth place. She was Norwegian champion in 2004 and 2005 after she was second in 2003 (behind Swiss Maya Pedersen ).
