The Rheingau Volksbank eG is a cooperative bank and is based in Geisenheim . The business area of ​​the bank covers the entire Rheingau and parts of the Untertaunus. The bank is owned by more than 16,000 cooperative members. The company has two wholly-owned subsidiaries: Rheingauer Volksbank Immobilien GmbH and Rheingauer Winzerbedarf GmbH.

The business area covers the entire Rheingau from Walluf to Lorch as well as parts of the Untertaunus . The bank operates 15 branches in Lorch, Assmannshausen , Rüdesheim am Rhein , Geisenheim , Johannisberg , Marienthal , Winkel , Oestrich , Hallgarten , Erbach , Eltville am Rhein , Rauenthal , Kiedrich , Walluf and Bad Schwalbach . In addition to the branches, there are two pure advice centers in Geisenheim and Eltville. Customer service is supplemented by six self-service points in Rüdesheim, Geisenheim, Winkel, Hattenheim, Erbach and Eltville.

With the establishment of the advance and credit association in 1862, craftsmen, small businesses, winegrowers and savers created an association that accepted savings and enabled loans. The cooperative in Geisenheim was based on the basic values ​​of self-help, democratic self-administration and personal responsibility, which still strongly determine the way the bank operates today. After the end of the First World War , the name was changed to Rheingauer Bank eGmbH. In 1929, the merger with Rheinische Volksbank eGmbH to form Rheingauer Volksbank. Karl Larsen became director. In 1959 a modern bank building was built, the basis of today's main office in Geisenheim. Larsen was replaced by Rolf Andreas in 1969. After the merger with Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Lorch eG in 1990, Helmut Colloseus took over as CEO in 1995. In 1997 Paul Meuer was appointed to the board. In 1999 the merger with the two Raiffeisen banks in Mittel-Rheingau and Rheingau-Taunus took place. Since then, the Rheingauer Volksbank has been present in the entire Rheingau and part of the Lower Taunus. The Rheingauer Winzerbedarf GmbH and the Rheingauer Immobilien GmbH were established as subsidiaries. In 2007 Paul Meuer took over as chairman of the board. In 2012 the Rheingauer Volksbank celebrated its 150th anniversary. On July 1, 2017, Andreas Zeiselmaier succeeded Meuer, who was retiring, and is now CEO of Rheingauer Volksbank. In July 2020, the Rheingauer Volksbank started an extensive partnership with the electricity and gas exchange service remind.me.
