Marienthal is a district of the city of Geisenheim in the Rheingau-Taunus district in Hesse .
Geographical location
The Marienthal district is located in the district of Geisenheim about 2.5 kilometers north of the valley town at an altitude of about bis 195 255 m above sea level. NN . The Rhine-Taunus Nature Park stretches to the north and east of the village , while vineyards and agricultural fields characterize the landscape to the south and west. The Elsterbach valley borders the town to the northeast. About 200 meters north of the village is the Marienthal monastery on the Elsterbach.
history
The place was first mentioned as a pottery settlement "Düppenhausen" in the 15th century. However, the beginnings of today's Franciscan monastery, which is still a popular place of pilgrimage, are said to date back to 1330. However, today's place was only built as a residential area in 1951 under the influence of the Hessen plan . The city of Geisenheim has set up a separate local district for Marienthal with a local advisory council and local councilor, just as it has for the incorporated districts .
Transport and infrastructure
Marienthal is accessible to road traffic through the K 984 district road, which branches off to the west of the town from the K 630 coming from the valley town and leads between the two Marienthal settlement complexes down to the monastery and connects this in the Elsterbachtal with Johannisberg Grund .
