The Rhine port Rheinfelden is a Rhine port in Rheinfelden in Baden-Württemberg and designed as a river port .

location

The inland port is located south of the city at Rhine kilometer 149.4 on the right on the Upper Rhine . The federal road 34 runs 100 m to the north , to which there is an unregulated access road.

The railway line of the Hochrheinbahn runs 280 m north of the harbor; but there is no siding and there is also no loading facility.

history

The harbor was in 1933 with an initial 50 m gespundeter opened quay length, scoring ready in the first year an envelope of 60,000 tons. It quickly gained in importance due to the handling of raw materials for the then "vital" aluminum industry ( Aluminum Rheinfelden ) on site. The facilities remained intact during World War II and were handed over to the French occupying forces on April 25, 1945 without a fight . In 1952 the site was returned to the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 2012 it was decided to renovate the aging systems and carried out in 2014. Among other things, the quay wall was extended to 150 m.

Infrastructure

The Rhenus company handles goods and raw materials such as aluminum, Rhine sand, gravel, lava, iron ore concentrate, anthracite and quartz sand in volumes of 150,000 to 250,000 tons per year.

A slewing crane, a semi-portal crane and loading silos are available at the port . In addition to the fortified quay wall, there are another 40 m of sloping bank, two jetties and additional dolphins .
The port is suitable for motorized goods ships with a discharge depth of up to 2.5 m.

For recreational shipping , 2.5 km downstream at Rhine km 152 on the right, there is a separate landing stage for small vehicles as well as supply and disposal facilities.
