The Rheinisch-Westfälische Berufskolleg Essen (RWB Essen) in Essen 's Frohnhausen district is the largest special needs school for the deaf and hard of hearing in Germany . As an upper secondary school , it offers courses up to technical college entrance qualification and general university entrance qualification . The school is attended by over 1000 students from all over Germany, some of them from German-speaking countries . The facility has existed since September 1978 and is supported by the Rhineland Regional Council.
