The Rhine foreland in Orsoyer Rheinbogen (official name: "NSG Rhine foreland in Orsoyer Rheinbogen, with extension") is a 397 ha comprehensive FFH area in Rheinberger district Orsoy am Niederrhein . It is located entirely within the approximately 802 hectare nature reserve Hasenfeld and Rheinvorland between Eversael and Ossenberg and within the European bird sanctuary Unterer Niederrhein .
The foreland of the Rhine in the Orsoyer Rheinbogen encompasses the dyke foreland along the Rhine over a length of more than nine kilometers . A defining part of this landscape is the extensive pastureland , others are the two large still waters in the north of the area , on which reeds and willow bushes grow in addition to low-growing bank meadows . Further, small-scale still waters and isolated rows of trees can be found throughout the area. The resulting mosaic of different landscape types with remains of softwood floodplains and oat meadows offers both the amphibians living here a suitable habitat and migratory birds such as arctic geese and swans an important resting and wintering location.
