Rhipsalis ewaldiana is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis ewaldiana grows epiphytically with twofold shoots . The main shoots are square and of unlimited growth. They are up to 60 centimeters long and have a diameter of 4 to 5 millimeters. The mesotonically branched , 3 to 6 centimeters long side shoots are mostly triangular and have limited growth.

The white flowers appear laterally from the shoots and are 14 to 20 millimeters long. The spherical, more or less pink-colored fruits reach a diameter of 8 millimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rhipsalis ewaldiana is common in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro .

It was first described in 1995 by Wilhelm Barthlott and Nigel Paul Taylor .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
