Rhipsalis floccosa is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis floccosa grows epiphytically or lithophytically , with richly branched, initially upright and later hanging shoots of limited growth, which branch exclusively acrotonously . The cylindrical, slender, round, green shoots often have slightly raised bumps below the scale-shaped leaf rudiments . They are up to 25 centimeters long and 5 to 6 millimeters in diameter. Around the sunken, woolly areoles that do not have bristles, the shoots are sometimes tinged red or purple.

The greenish white to creamy white or golden yellow flowers appear laterally and reach a diameter of 1.5 to 2 centimeters. The spherical, white, red or slightly pink fruits reach a diameter of up to 1 centimeter.

Systematics, distribution and endangerment

Rhipsalis floccosa is common in Venezuela , Brazil , Paraguay , Argentina , Peru and Bolivia . The first description was published in 1837 by Ludwig Georg Karl Pfeiffer . The following subspecies are distinguished:
