Ricardo Ornelas , also known by the nickname Loco , is a retired Mexican football player in the position of defender .

career

Ornelas was part of the "team from the very beginning" of his long-time club Atlas Guadalajara when it made its debut on October 17, 1943 (2: 4 against the capital club CF Asturias ) in the newly launched Mexican professional league .

When the first Clásico Tapatío in the Mexican professional league was played on December 5, 1943 , Ornelas underwent an own goal in the 3-7 defeat against city rivals Chivas .

Ornelas made another self-goal on the second match day of the 1948/49 season against León FC in the first minute of the game. With his goal in the eighth minute, Adalberto "Dumbo" López gave the guests a 2-0 lead early on, so it initially looked as if Ornelas' own goal had put the hosts on the losing side. But one goal each from Juan José Novo and Rodrigo Solano ensured the 2-2 break, which was followed in the second half by another six goals from Atlas (including two each from Novo and Solano) to an 8-2 victory.

After the successful 1949/50 season , in which Ornelas won the Mexican Cup and the Supercup with Club Atlas , “Loco” ended his active career.
