Life

After studying law , Cucciolla worked, among other things, from 1946 as a speaker in radio broadcasts, for dubbing and for documentaries . After numerous theater work, he was hired for supporting roles in several Italian films in the 1950s . His actual film career as an actor began in 1963 with a leading role in the Italian-Soviet war film Italiani brava gente . Prior to that, he was one of the most industrious actors in the young Italian television scene, with whom he remained connected in original material, theatrical films and series works until the 1980s. After engagements primarily in the film business during the 1970s, Cucciolla turned back to the stage more intensively in the following decade, where he also organized reading and recitation evenings, suggested dubbing and supported young directors with their (television) debut.

Internationally known Cucciolla in 1971 as a cast member of Nicola Sacco in, directed by Giuliano Montaldo turned political -, documentary and - legal drama Sacco e Vanzetti , for which he as at the 24th Film Festival in Cannes best actor award. Cucciolla was also engaged in other films with a socially critical background, none of which, however, reached the importance of Sacco and Vanzetti .
