action

Massimo Torlani is a young Roman policeman . Ever since his mother was shot to a cripple in a robbery, he has been seeking revenge. He is hired to work as an undercover agent . Torlani ambushes a jeweler and is arrested and has to assert himself in prison against fellow inmates. In a fight he can defeat the notorious jail thug Manolo. Torlani rises in the prison hierarchy and meets gang boss Giulianelli, who is planning to break out of prison. Bavoso had taken over the territory from Giulianelli. If there is an outbreak, Giulianelli and Torlani are able to escape from prison. Bavoso had learned of the breakout attempt and two killers were set on Giulianelli. Giulianelli is injured in a shootout, but Torlani manages to kill the two killers. In gratitude, Giulianelli accepts Torlani into his gang. Torlani can subsequently kill for Giulianelli Bavoso. Torlani wants to get to the backers of organized crime. Giulianelli takes Torlani to a mafia meeting in Genoa . Here Giulianelli meets with the godfather Perroni. Torlani realizes that the two criminals who crippled his mother belong to the Perroni gang. The Perroni secretary begins a relationship with Torlani. Giulianelli hires Torlani to bring a truck full of drugs from Marseille to Italy . While driving, Torlani is attacked several times by other gangsters. He manages to eliminate his opponents and bring the truck to the meeting point, where it should turn out that Perronis people want to ambush the truck. Perroni appears at the meeting point and wants to kill Torlani. His secretary shoots Perroni and then tells Torlani that she knows that he is an undercover agent. Torlani takes her to see Giulianelli in Sanremo . The drugs are loaded onto Giulianelli's yacht. After leaving the port, Giulianelli is arrested. Torlani drives to Perone's villa to get revenge on the two killers who crippled his mother. When he arrives, the men are already dead. Perroni's secretary escapes in a car.

criticism

  • The lexicon of international films found: "A lurid mixture of gangster and police film, in which the policeman only differs from the criminal by the fact that he stands on the other side."
  • The film magazine Cinema wrote: “The obscure thriller, which has not been shown for a long time, is a highlight in the genre of Italian gangster films. Conclusion: Above average: tough and exciting. "
  • “Franco Prosperi's police film, which also uses motifs from a revenge movie, is a real gem. An extremely carefree and stylish genre film. "
  • Schnittberichte.com judged: "With" Pronto ad Uccidere "director Franco Prosperi created one of the best Italian gangster and police films of the 70s. Everything about this film is just right. Be it the wonderful actors, the score that may take some getting used to, but in retrospect the first-class score, or the perfectly choreographed action scenes "
