Peter Berling
Peter Berling (born March 20, 1934 in Meseritz-Obrawalde ; † November 21, 2017 in Rome ) was a German film producer , writer and actor .
Life
Berling grew up in Berlin and Osnabrück after the Second World War . His father was the architect Max H. Berling . Peter Berling left the school without a high school , then completed a bricklayer and then studied at the Polytechnic a semester long architecture . He then studied graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich ; later he came to film through commercials.
He has appeared in more than 130 films, for example directed by Werner Herzog , Martin Scorsese , Helmut Dietl , Jean-Jacques Annaud , Volker Schlöndorff , Liliana Cavani and in films by Helge Schneider . He was also known as a producer (including for Rainer Werner Fassbinder ), critic and chronicler. About Fassbinder, Berling wrote the biographical text The 13 Years of Rainer Werner Fassbinder , in which he describes in detail the life and work of the director. He also wrote several scripts or worked on them, including the controversial film Play We Love from 1977. He has lived in the Roman district of Trastevere since 1969 .
Berling still appeared on television in old age, for example regularly in the shows 10 vor 11 and Prime-Time / Spätausgabe , in which he slipped into various roles and costumes and was questioned by Alexander Kluge with mock seriousness. Only in the broadcast did he find out who he was and what the broadcast was about.
