Richard Beyer (* 1958 ) is a German music theorist , musicologist and university professor .

biography

Richard Beyer studied the subjects music education , diploma church music and master music theory at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt and Latin philology and musicology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt . His subsequent doctorate in musicology took place in 1992 at the University of Frankfurt . After completing his studies, he taught at the Frankfurt University of Music , at the University of Frankfurt and at the Mainz University of Music in the subjects of music theory / composition , ear training , musicology and music didactics . This was followed by an appointment to a professorship for music theory at the University of Catholic Church Music and Music Education in Regensburg . There he teaches music theory / composition, ear training, instrumentation, as well as form theory and work analysis.
