Richard Deming

Richard Deming (born April 25, 1915 in Des Moines , Iowa , USA ; † September 5, 1983 in Ventura , California , USA ) was an American writer.

Life

Deming grew up in St. Louis ( Missouri ) and studied there at the Washington University and received his doctorate at the State University in Iowa City in literary history. He was in the Army from 1941 to 1945 , then secretary to the Red Cross until 1950 . He wrote short stories and 57 detective novels .

Deming served on the board of the Mystery Writers of America from 1976 to 1983 .

He married Ruth DuBois in 1948 and had two daughters.
