Richard Fleischner

Richard Hugh Fleischner (born 1944 in New York City ) is an American sculptor .

life and work

Richard Fleischner was born in New York City in 1944. At the Rhode Island School of Design he received his Bachelor's degree in 1966 and his Master's degree in 1968 . From 1970 to 1974 Fleischner taught at Brown University in Providence .

As artistic material, Fleischner uses, among other things, sward , hay , plantings, wood and limestone up to marble , COR-TEN steel and granite . The “La Jolla Project” (1984) consists of 71 pink and gray granite blocks that are arranged in such a way that associations with architectural elements, columns, arches, windows and doors are obvious.

Awards

Richard Fleischner has received numerous awards for his work, including an award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1974, and the National Endowment for the Arts in 1975, 1980 and 1990 .
