Richard Munro Fox (born May 6, 1960 in Winsford , Cheshire ) is a former British canoeist and current functionary . Fox was active in canoe slalom from the late 1970s to the early 1990s . Today he lives in Australia and is Vice President of the International Canoeing Federation (ICF).

successes

Fox won a total of six gold and one bronze medal at the Canoe World Championships in single kayaks (K1) between 1979 and 1993 . At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , he was fourth, also in K1.

International Canoe Association

From 1996 to 2000, Fox president of ICF Slalom Committee and played an important role in the efforts of the Canoe World Association to the whereabouts of the canoe slalom in the program of the Olympic Games of Sydney in 2000, the estimated due to the high cost of Penrith Whitewater Stadium before the Olympic Games. Fox was then Vice President of the International Canoeing Federation (ICF) for several years .

Post-career activity

In 1998 he became national coach of the Australian canoe slalom team to prepare them for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. In 2001 he also accepted a position at the Australian Institute of Sport . He also led the Australian slalom team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . In January 2005, he was named National Performance Officer for Australian Canoeists. In 2008 he was responsible for the Australian high-performance program of slalom and racing canoeists in preparation for the Olympic Games in Beijing .
