Richard Fröhlich (born June 5, 1986 in Oldendorf (Stade district) ) is a German basketball player. The center, which weighs 100 kilograms and is 2.06 m tall, is currently part of the regional league club VfL Stade. Before that, he played in the 2nd Bundesliga, among others.

career

After stints at VfL Stade, for which he played in the youth and men's division, and at the Cuxhaven BasCats (2nd Bundesliga) in 2007, Fröhlich moved to Citrus College near Los Angeles for two years . There he won the California championship and then moved to the University of Texas at San Antonio (NCAA 1). In addition to basketball, Fröhlich used his time at university in the USA to get a degree in sociology. In 2009 he received an invitation for the German A-2 national team.

Back in Germany he was part of the Cuxhaven BasCats squad in the 2010/11 season . In 21 games he scored 5.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per game. In the 2011/12 season Fröhlich played for the university giants Leipzig in the 2nd basketball division ProB . He signed a one-year contract in Leipzig. Further stations were BG Leitershofen / Stadtbergen (also ProB) in the 2012/13 season and BBC Magdeburg in the 2nd basketball league ProA (2013/14 season). Since the 2014/15 season he has been playing for the regional league club VfL Stade again.

During his playing career he was already working as a coach at his sister Linda's basketball academy.
