Richard Hibbard (born December 13, 1983 in Neath , Neath Port Talbot ) is a Welsh rugby union player . He plays as a hooker for the Welsh national team and the Ospreys .

Hibbard began his career as a teenager with Aberavon RFC before moving to Swansea in 2002 . In 2004 he became part of the Ospreys, in December of that year he came to his first appearance in the Magners League against Munster . In the summer of 2006 he was nominated for the summer tour of the Welsh national team, where he played his first two internationals against Argentina . Due to a shoulder operation, he was able to participate in only four games in the entire 2006/07 season, he was still used in the preparatory games for the World Cup . However, he was not considered for the actual tournament. In the following years he only came to sporadic assignments, such as in the summer of 2008 against the reigning world champion South Africa .
