The Aberavon Rugby Football Club is a rugby union -Verein who in the Welsh Premier Division plays. The home games are played at the Talbot Athletic Ground .
history
The Aberavon RFC was founded in Aberavon in 1876 under the name Afan RFC . In 1888 you joined the national association Welsh Rugby Union and from then on you could regularly compete against other clubs from the region. In the next few decades one had to move more frequently as more steel mills were built in the city. Since 1921 Aberavon played at the Talbot Athletic Ground. At the same time, the nickname Wizards came about due to a newspaper article . The club's colors red and black were first played in 1952. To date, 48 national players have emerged from the ranks of Aberavon.
From the 2009/10 season the club will take part in the British and Irish Cup , a competition for second-rate clubs.
