The Bedwas Rugby Football Club is a rugby union -Verein who in the Welsh Premier Division plays. The home games are played at Bridge Field .

history

The club was founded in 1889 and has been a member of the Welsh Rugby Union , the national association , since 1910 . With the outbreak of World War I , rugby activity in the city ceased for a few years. It was not until 1920 that it could be played again. Something similar happened during the Second World War . The club has been based in Bridge Field since 1947. In the 1990s they managed to move up from the fifth to the second division of the Welsh league.

Regional national teams from Wales have played in the Pro14 since 2003, and their squads are drawn from the existing clubs. The Bedwas RFC is assigned to the Newport Gwent Dragons .
