The British and Irish Cup is a rugby union competition involving teams from England , Wales , Scotland and Ireland . It was first played in the 2009/10 season. In 2015/2016 the cup was held for the seventh time.

mode

First, the 24 teams are divided into four groups of six teams each, with each team playing once against each other. The groups are put together according to geographical aspects, so that long journeys are not necessary for the spectators of the visiting teams. The group winners meet in the semifinals and determine the final pairing there.
