Richard Holland (classical philologist)

Richard Holland (born March 4, 1860 in Seidau near Bautzen , † in the 20th century) was a German classical philologist and high school teacher .

Richard Holland studied at the University of Leipzig from 1880 after attending grammar school in Bautzen . In 1884 he received his doctorate there with Otto Ribbeck with a thesis on Polyphemus and Galateia . He worked as a teacher at the Thomasschule in Leipzig and published Rege on topics of Greek mythology as well as articles in Wilhelm Heinrich Roscher's detailed lexicon of Greek and Roman mythology .
