Richard Jung (neurologist)

Richard Jung (born June 27, 1911 in Frankenthal ; † June 25, 1986 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist .

Life

Jung studied in Vienna, Freiburg i. Br., Paris, Berlin and Munich. In 1934 he was at the University of Munich Dr. med. PhD. In 1940 he completed his habilitation at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1947 he became an adjunct professor here, in 1949 an associate professor and in 1951 a full professor of neurology and neuropsychology. He was director of the Neurological University Clinic in Freiburg .

In 1950, Jung founded the German EEG Society (since 1996: German Society for Clinical Neurophysiology and Functional Imaging ; DGKN) and became its first president and later honorary president. He was also chairman of the German Society for Neurology from 1969 to 1970 and was elected a member of the Leopoldina in 1974.
