Richard Lange (born May 13, 1887 in Geithain , † January 1, 1963 in Leipzig ) was a German politician ( KPD ). He was a member of the Saxon state parliament .

Life

Long, the son of a carpenter , was metal workers and to 1912 on the move . In 1908 he joined the SPD . Until the outbreak of the First World War he was a trade union and party functionary in Leipzig. In 1915 he was called up for military service, but in 1916 he was ordered back from the front as a skilled worker with special knowledge. In 1917 he joined the USPD . As one of the organizers of the Leipzig munitions workers' strike in July 1918, he was sent back to the front, where he was taken prisoner by the French .

Lange returned to Leipzig from captivity in March 1920 and joined the KPD there. He worked in a Leipzig metal company and became chairman of the works council . In 1928 he became a member of the KPD district leadership for West Saxony. From 1926 to 1928 he was a city ​​councilor in Leipzig, 1929/1930 a member of the Saxon state parliament (4th electoral period).

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, he continued to work illegally for the KPD, he was later conscripted and was under the supervision of the Gestapo .

In 1945 he rejoined the KPD and in 1946 became a member of the SED . Until 1950 he worked in the Labor Department of the City Council of Leipzig.

Lange was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.
