Richard Leibinger

Richard Leibinger (born October 5, 1949 in Durbach ) is a German politician and former Lord Mayor of Waldkirch .

Life

Leibinger attended the elementary school in Durbach from 1956 to 1960 and the Schiller-Gymnasium in Offenburg from 1960 to 1968 , where he passed the Abitur in 1968. In the winter semester of 1968/69 he studied economics and social sciences at the University of Mannheim before he was called up for military service in 1969/70. After his military service, he began studying spatial planning (local, regional and state planning) at the University of Dortmund from 1970 to 1975 and graduated with a degree in engineering.

From 1975 he was an employee of the city of Nuremberg in the staff for urban development planning. When he was elected mayor of the city of Waldkirch in 1983, he was elected in the second ballot and took office on June 11, 1983. He was confirmed in office in the following elections, most recently in 2007. After the city of Waldkirch became a major district town on January 1, 2009 , Leibinger officiated as Lord Mayor. In the election on March 15, 2015, Leibinger did not run again. His party colleague Roman Götzmann won the election, and the handover took place on June 10th.

In 1997, Leibinger was elected deputy state chairman of the SPD for the southern Baden area.

Leibinger is married and has three daughters.
