Richard Meier

Richard Meier (born November 23, 1878 in Arnsfeld , † January 25, 1933 in Berlin ) was a German politician of the SPD .

Life and work

After attending the elementary school in Arnsfeld, Meier, who was Evangelical-Lutheran, learned the trade of brewer in Leubsdorf from 1893 to 1896 . During his military service with the 2nd Grenadier Regiment 101 in Dresden in 1909 he was so seriously injured that he was dismissed as an invalid. He then became a full-time workers secretary at the Central Association of Brewery Workers .

MP

In a by-election on May 13, 1918, Meier in the constituency of Saxony 18 was elected to the Reichstag of the Empire. In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly . Then Meier was again a member of the Reichstag until May 1924 and again from July 1932 until his death .
