Richard Reid Rogers ( 1868 - November 10, 1949 ) was an American lawyer . In 1906 and 1907 he was the military governor of the Panama Canal Zone .

Career

Richard Rogers was a prominent lawyer specializing in transit rights. He was married to Eunice Tomlin. Their daughter later married into the German noble house of Hesse .

Rogers attended Princeton University until 1886 . He then studied law at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville . He became a legal advisor to the Isthmian Canal Commission and the Panama Railroad Company . In 1906, the office of governor of the Panama Canal Zone was temporarily abolished. The function was largely delegated to the adviser to the Isthmian Canal Commission . In this case, it was Richard Rogers, who held this position until 1907. He carried out the necessary business from Washington, DC and was not on site in Panama.
