Richard Schmidt (architect)

Richard Schmidt (born March 26, 1883 in Gießen ; † 1959 ) was a German architect and craftsman .

Life and works

Richard Schmidt was a master student and employee of Olbrich . In 1906/07, according to Thieme-Becker, he worked as a teacher at the Mainz School of Applied Arts . In 1907 he moved to the Hanseatic University of Fine Arts in Hamburg , where he became a teacher of architecture and garden art. From 1930 to 1931 he was the director of this institution, which had been called the State Art School since 1929. Among other things, Schmidt designed the Eck Landhaus in Oberursel im Taunus and the Jungfernbrunnen on Jungfernstieg in Hamburg.
