Richard von Goldberger (born June 22, 1875 in Vienna , † August 25, 1927 in Berlin ) was an Austrian composer.

Life

Goldberger was a co-owner of the Johann Strauss Theater in Vienna . He wrote a number of successful operettas, of which Der Stern von Aswan was performed in the Berlin Kroll Opera and led to a conflict with the general administration of the city theaters. In 1918 he also composed the operetta Die Modebaronin with texts by Robert Bodanzky and Hanns Sassmann .

Baron Goldberger also knew the painter Moritz Coschell , who made a large portrait of him and the important painting also took part in the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1903 and was published in the Jewish culture and monthly magazine Ost und West and received a very detailed assessment of the Critic Georg Hermann :

"In the picture - which is wider than the section here and captivates through clever grouping - there is a splendid red spot, the tie, in the middle as the brightest value, around which the others group themselves according to the picture edges [...]"

Goldberger took part, among other things, in the opening ceremony of the exhibition of Jewish artists on November 17, 1907 in Berlin.

His estate is kept in the archive of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wien.
