After another two years at Augsburg EV , he was at the height of his career. With his new employer, the EHC Freiburg, he achieved his best career values and was able to improve continuously. Particularly noteworthy was the 1987/88 season when he scored 94 points in 49 games for Freiburg and then rose to the 1st Bundesliga.

Further career stations were the ERC Westfalen Dortmund , which he had to leave in 1990 due to financial difficulties, and the EC KAC in the Austrian Bundesliga . Rick Laycock ended his career at his previous place of work, with the Augsburg Panthers, for which he scored 31 scorer points in 49 games in his final 1995/96 season .
