Kurt Dörnemann

Kurt Dörnemann (born August 21, 1913 in Witten ; † January 7, 2009 in Bochum ) was a German writer .

Life

Kurt Dörnemann attended the municipal high school in Witten and passed his school leaving examination there in 1931 . After a traineeship , he worked in Bochum as an editor for the Westfälische Volkszeitung and the Bochumer Anzeiger . He took as a soldier of the Wehrmacht at the World War II in part and got into captivity . After the end of the war, he worked as a freelance cultural journalist and critic for various newspapers . From 1965 to 1976 he was culture editor atWest German Broadcasting . From 1951 to 1986 he regularly wrote reviews and theater contributions for the Westfalenspiegel . In addition, he dealt with the theater culture of the Ruhr area and put together an extensive collection on this topic, which he presented in exhibitions and donated to the German Institute of the University of Bochum in 1987 . Kurt Dörnemann lived in Bochum .

He is the author of stories , reports , essays , plays , radio plays , radio features and works on the history of theater .

He was also a member of the German Shakespeare Society West and the Société Internationale des Amis de Montaigne . He was the holder of the Ring of Honor of the City of Bochum and the University Medal of the Ruhr University Bochum .

In 2004 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . Kurt Dörnemann died on January 7, 2009 in Bochum.
