Ebenezer Stoddard

Ebenezer Stoddard (born May 6, 1785 in Union , Tolland County , Connecticut , † August 19, 1847 in West Woodstock , Connecticut) was an American politician.

Career

Stoddard attended Woodstock Academy from 1802 to 1803 and studied law at Brown University in Providence . He graduated there in 1807 and was admitted to the bar in 1810. Stoddard practiced in West Woodstock.

He was a member of the party Democratic-Republican in Congress voted and represented there on 4 March 1821 to the March 3, 1825 the State of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives . Thereafter, Stoddard was a member of the Connecticut Senate from 1825 to 1827 and was lieutenant governor of the state in 1833 and again from 1835 to 1837 . After retiring from politics, he returned to his previous job.

Stoddard died in West Woodstock in 1847 and was buried in Bungay Cemetery .
