Uriah Tracy (* 2. February 1755 in Franklin , Connecticut Colony ; † 19th July 1807 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician ( Federalist Party ), of the United States House of Representatives and the Senate of the United States as representatives Belonged to Connecticuts .

Tracy studied law at Yale University in 1778 . He was admitted to the bar in 1781 and practiced as a lawyer in Litchfield for many years . From 1788 to 1793 he sat (temporarily as a speaker ) in the House of Representatives from Connecticut and from 1793 to 1796 in the House of Representatives of the United States. After his trimester, he was elected to the US Senate to replace Jonathan Trumbull, Jr. , who had resigned. Tracy served in that office until he died in Washington DC. He was buried in the newly built congress cemetery. His portrait, painted by Ralph Earl , is in the collection of the Litchfield Historical Society in Litchfield.
