Albert P. Morano

Albert Paul Morano (born January 18, 1908 in Paterson , New Jersey , †  December 16, 1987 in Greenwich , Connecticut ) was an American politician . Between 1951 and 1959 he represented the state of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Albert Morano came to Greenwich, Connecticut with his parents in 1912. There he attended public schools. Between 1933 and 1935 he was a member of the city's tax commission. Between 1939 and 1940, Morano served as an assistant to Congressman Albert E. Austin . From 1942 he was also active in the real estate and insurance business in Greenwich. From 1943 to 1947 he was a member of the staff of Congressman Clare Boothe Luce . Afterwards Morano was from 1947 to 1950 commissioner for the unemployment insurance in Connecticut ( Unemployment Compensation Commissioner ).

Politically, Morano was a member of the Republican Party . In the 1950 congressional election he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Connecticut , where he succeeded John Davis Lodge on January 3, 1951 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four terms in Congress by January 3, 1959 . During this time, among other things, the Korean War fell . In the elections of 1958 he was defeated by the Democrat Donald Jay Irwin .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Morano served on the staff of US Senator Thomas J. Dodd between 1963 and 1969 . Then he retired from politics and devoted himself to his private business. Albert Morano died on December 16, 1987 in his home town of Greenwich and was buried there.
