Zalmon Wildman

Zalmon Wildman (born February 16, 1775 in Danbury , Colony of Connecticut , †  December 10, 1835 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . In 1835 he represented the state of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives .

Career

After attending elementary school, Zalmon Wildman became a hat maker . In Charleston ( South Carolina ) and Savannah ( Georgia ), he opened the first hat shops. Between 1824 and 1826 he was President of Danbury National Bank . From 1805 to 1835 he also served as a postman in Danbury.

His political career began with his election to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1818. There he remained until 1819. In the Congressional elections of 1834, which were held nationwide in Connecticut, Wildman was a candidate for the Democratic Party in the US House of Representatives in Washington DC elected. There he took over the mandate of Phineas Miner on March 4, 1835 . However, he could only exercise his new office until December 10 of the same year. That day he died in the American capital.
