Levi Warner

Levi Warner (born October 10, 1831 in Wethersfield , Connecticut , †  April 12, 1911 in Norwalk , Connecticut) was an American politician . Between 1876 and 1879 he represented the state of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Levi Warner was the younger brother of Samuel L. Warner (1828-1893), who between 1865 and 1867 represented the second constituency of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives. After elementary school, Warner studied law at Yale College and Dane Law School in Massachusetts . After his admission to the bar in 1859, he began practicing his new profession in Fairfield County .

Politically, Warner was a member of the Democratic Party . After the move of Congressman William Henry Barnum to the United States Senate , he was elected as his successor in Congress in the due by-election in the fourth district of Connecticut in 1876 . Since he was confirmed in his mandate in the regular elections that year, he could remain in the US House of Representatives until March 3, 1879. In 1878 Warner declined to run again.

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Warner withdrew from politics and worked again as a lawyer. He died on April 12, 1911 in Norwalk, where he had lived since 1858.
