James H. Maloney

James H. "Jim" Maloney (born September 17, 1948 in Quincy , Massachusetts ) is an American politician . Between 1997 and 2003 he represented the state of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Maloney first attended St. Sebastian High School in Needham and then studied at Harvard University until 1972 . After studying law at Boston University and being admitted to the bar, he began working in Danbury in his new profession in 1980 . Politically, Maloney joined the Democratic Party . Between 1986 and 1995 he was a member of the Connecticut Senate .

In the congressional elections of 1996 he was in the fifth constituency of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC selected. There he took over on January 3, 1997, succeeding Republican Gary Franks . After two re-elections, Maloney was able to complete three consecutive terms in Congress until January 3, 2003 . In the 2002 election he was defeated by Republican Nancy Johnson . His electoral defeat is partly the result of the redistribution of the electoral districts. Areas with a large Republican electorate were added in Maloney's district. James Maloney has not appeared politically since 2003.
