Lucien J. Maciora

Lucien John Maciora (born August 17, 1902 in New Britain , Connecticut , †  October 19, 1993 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1941 and 1943 he represented the state of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Lucien Maciora worked as a grocer after graduating from high school and later built his own company. At the same time he began a political career. Between 1926 and 1934 he was a member of the New Britain City Council. Maciora was a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1932 and 1937 he was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives ; from 1934 to 1940 he was a member of the Police Committee in his hometown of New Britain. He also worked as an insurance agent.

In the 1940 congressional election, held for Connecticut's sixth state seat, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Republican B. J. Monkiewicz on January 3, 1941 . Since he was subject to this in the elections of 1942, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until January 3, 1943 , which was largely determined by the events of World War II .

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Maciora worked for the New Britain Municipal Treasury from 1950 to 1969. After that, he retired. Lucien Maciora died on October 19, 1993 at the age of 91 in New Britain and was buried there.
