Antoni Sadlak

Antoni Nicholas Sadlak (born June 13, 1908 in Rockville , Tolland County , Connecticut , †  October 18, 1969 there ) was an American politician . Between 1947 and 1959 he represented the state of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Antoni Sadlak attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1926 the George Sykes Manual Training and High School . He then studied law until 1931 at George Washington University in Washington, DC . Between July 1941 and December 1942 Sadlak worked for the Federal Ministry of Justice. During World War II , he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific from March 1944 to April 1946 . Politically, Sadlak was a member of the Republican Party . Between 1939 and 1944 he worked intermittently as secretary for Congressman BJ Monkiewicz . In 1946, Sadlak was briefly employed by the Connecticut Department of Education.

In the 1946 congressional election, held state-wide for Connecticut's sixth seat, Sadlak was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington. There he succeeded the Democrat Joseph F. Ryter on January 3, 1947 . After five re-elections, he was able to complete six consecutive terms in Congress by January 3, 1959 . During this time the Korean War fell and the civil rights movement began. In the elections of 1958 he was defeated by the Democrat Frank Kowalski .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Sadlak worked for the Hartford Regional Veterans Service in 1959 and 1960. In 1966 he was appointed a probate judge in Connecticut. He held this office until his death in October 1969.
