John Larson

John B. Larson (born July 22, 1948 in Hartford , Connecticut ) is an American politician .

He is a member of the Democratic Party and has been a member of the House of Representatives since 1999 as a representative of the Connecticut State's 1st Congressional District . After his first election to the US House of Representatives in 1998, he was confirmed in office in all subsequent elections up to and including 2016. It is expected to remain in Congress until January 3, 2019 [obsolete] . He also has the option to run again in 2018.

Larson studied at Central Connecticut University in New Britain , where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971 . He was a member of the East Hartford City Council from 1979 to 1983 and served as a Senator in the Connecticut Senate from 1986 to 1998 .
