Jeremiah Wadsworth

Jeremiah Wadsworth (born July 12, 1743 in Hartford , Colony of Connecticut , †  April 30, 1804 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1789 and 1795 he represented the state of Connecticut in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jeremiah Wadsworth grew up during the British colonial era. He attended the public schools in his home country and went to sea from 1761. He joined this movement during the American Revolution and was a procurement officer in the Continental Army between 1775 and 1778 during the Revolutionary War . In 1788 he was elected to the Continental Congress. In the same year he was a member of the congregation that ratified the United States Constitution for Connecticut .

In the elections for the first Congress , which were held in Connecticut state-wide, he was elected to the US House of Representatives for the fifth mandate of his state. After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress between March 4, 1789 and March 3, 1795 . In 1794 he renounced another candidacy.

After serving in the US Congress, Wadsworth was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1795 . Between 1795 and 1801 he was a member of the government council of his state. He also worked in agriculture. Jeremiah Wadsworth died on April 30, 1804 in his native Hartford.
