Noyes Billings

Noyes Billings (born March 31, 1800 in Stonington , Connecticut , †  April 26, 1865 in New London , Connecticut) was an American politician . Between 1846 and 1847 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut.

Career

Noyes Billings graduated from Yale College . He later worked with his younger brother William in their own whaling company. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party founded by Andrew Jackson . Between 1835 and 1837 he served as Mayor of New London. In 1843 he was an MP and President in the Connecticut House of Representatives ; In 1844 he was a member of the State Senate .

In 1846, Billings was elected lieutenant governor of Connecticut alongside Isaac Toucey . He held this office between 1846 and 1847. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he no longer appeared politically. Noyes Billings died in New London on April 26, 1865.
