Kevin B. Sullivan (* 1949 in West Hartford , Connecticut ) is an American politician . Between 2004 and 2007 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut.

Career

Kevin Sullivan attended public schools in his home country. In 1971 he graduated from Trinity College , Hartford . After studying law at the University of Connecticut and being admitted to the bar, he began working in the profession. He ran a law association across Connecticut. He also worked as an election campaign advisor. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . He became a council member and mayor of West Hartford. Between 1986 and 2004 he was a member of the Connecticut Senate , where he was Chairman of the Education Committee. Since 1997 he has served as President Pro Tempore as the current President of this body. The official president was Lieutenant Governor Jodi Rell .

After the resignation of Governor John G. Rowland because of a corruption affair, Rell was succeeded in the office of governor according to the state constitution. The vacated position of Vice Governor also fell constitutionally to incumbent Senate President Kevin Sullivan. He held this office between 2004 and 2007. He was Deputy Governor and official chairman of the State Senate. In 2006 he renounced another candidacy for this office.

After his tenure as lieutenant governor ended, Sullivan became president of the Children's Museum for Connecticut . Since 2011 he has worked for the Treasury Department of his state as Commissioner of the Department of Revenue Services . There he is working on improving tax law for the benefit of taxpayers.
