Clifford B. Wilson

Clifford Wilson Brittin (* 2. December 1879 in Bridgeport , Connecticut ; † 1. January 1943 in Weston , Connecticut) was an American politician of the Republican Party .

Like his father, Wilson worked as a lawyer . He was Coroner (Head of Forensic Medicine) of the Fairfield County and in the Common Council of Bridgeport. From 1911 he was mayor of Bridgeport and held this office until 1921. From 1915 to 1921 he also served as lieutenant governor of Connecticut. In 1935, Wilson was put up by his party for the last time as a candidate for Bridgeport mayor. However, he was clearly defeated by the incumbent, the socialist Jasper McLevy .

Clifford B. Wilson was a member of the Freemasons , the Odd Fellows and similar associations. He died on New Year's Day 1943 of complications from a heart attack .
