David Gallup

David Gallup ( July 11, 1808August 15, 1883 ) was an American politician . Between 1879 and 1881 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut .

Career

The place of birth and death of David Gallup are not known. The sources do not provide any information about his youth and school education or his career outside of politics. He lived in Plainfield , Hartford County, and joined the Republican Party . In May 1860, he took part as a delegate at the Republican National Convention in Chicago , at which Abraham Lincoln was nominated as a presidential candidate. In 1866 he was an MP and President of the Connecticut House of Representatives ; in 1869 he was a member of the State Senate .

In 1878, Gallup was elected lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut alongside Charles B. Andrews . He held this office between 1879 and 1881. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. He died on August 15, 1883.
